ProjectGroovy:

The 70’sRubiks. CubeSet

- The brief was simple: build a room that feels like the 1970’s was trapped inside a puzzle.

Step One: The Sketch

Step 2: The Bones

The walls were my first priority. I applied textured finishes and color-blocked sections to mimic the Rubiks Cube concept; segmented, deliberate, graphic. The furniture was sourced from vintage dealers and motified palette I’d mapped out everything. Each piece was stripped, reupholstered, or repainted to match my original vision.

I sketched out a space that balanced retro warmth with graphic geometry- think patterned textiles, earthy tones, and furniture that feels both vintage and slightly surreal. Every piece had to reference the era without becoming a parody.

Step 3: The Finish

This was all about the details. The patterned textiles, the retro lamps, the carefully placed props- everything had to whisper ‘70s without shouting it. I styled the room to feel lived-in but elevated, like a time capsule designed for a camera lens.

‍ ‍Step 4: The Result

The final room is nostalgic but fresh; a space that feels both era-specific and timeless. It proves I can research, interpret and execute a period vision without falling into cliche’. For production companies, that means I can handle any decade thrown at me.
