Project Waterfall:The Rain Forest Set
- This one started with a wild question: can I build a working waterfall inside a set?
Step One: The Sketch
I sketched out a closed-loop water system pump, reservoir, drainage and a 10×10 tarped pool box to catcg the fall. The design had to be functional first, beautiful second. No leaks, no floods, just controlled chaos.
Step 2: The Bones
The build was equal parts carpentry and plumbing. I framed the waterfall structure, lined the pool box with heavy-duty tarp, and installed the pump system that would recirculate the water. Every joint was sealed, every connection tested. I ran the water for hours before the shoot to make sure it was bullet proof.
Step 3: The Finish
With the engineering solid, I dressed the set with rainforest elements; moss stone textures, layered foliage to soften the industrial bones. The water cascaded exactly where I’d planned, catching the light and creating that lush, immersive atmosphere. The sound alone sold the illusion.
